Municipal Affairs
One of the key roles of the Community Association is to help members navigate their issues through the different levels of government bureaucracy. Members of the executive routinely attend City of Calgary presentations and participate in City of Calgary planning processes. In addition, a representative from the City of Calgary regularly attends Community Association meetings.
The Community Association itself generally remains neutral on controversial issues.

Parking
There are a variety of parking restrictions within St. Andrews Heights. Permits are all electronic; physical parking tags are no longer used.
Permits to park in restricted zones can be obtained from the Calgary Parking Authority Residential Parking Permits website.
The Community Association periodically receives questions about changing the parking restrictions. To change parking restrictions residents must survey their block and in the event of at least 80% agreement, a petition can be presented to the City. Please call 3-1-1 for further details. The Community Association can provide advice but does not actively participate in the survey or petition process.
Parking enforcement may be requested by calling the Calgary Parking Authority Customer Solutions Centre.

Back Alley Paving
Most back alleys in St. Andrews Heights are currently unpaved. It is possible to make a request to the City to have an alley paved, however, and several have been.
Residential back alley paving is considered to be a Local Improvement, and the costs must be borne by the affected residents. The cost of paving varies based on a variety of factors but typically costs on the order of $6,000 per residence. The process is started by an interested resident gathering a petition signed by at least 2/3 of the residences bordering an alley.
For details, please visit the City's Backlane Paving and Local Improvement websites.
Note that the Community Association does not get involved in this process. It must be driven by an interested resident.
