Today a most awesome event happened after one of our neighbours reported something they witnessed this morning. A U-Haul travelling along 13th Avenue had the back doors open - and things were falling out. This included some photos which the neighbour who witnessed the event collected.
That neighbour made their best effort to get the direction of the U-Haul - which included turning from 13th onto Toronto, and soon after turning back onto 13th from Kingston, heading east. The neighbour contacted police - plus took a photo of the photos and shared with us. We shared with all of you. As it turns out, the neighbour with the U-Haul was heading out to the lake. Another neighbour who saw the email we sent out recognized the people in the photo. This allowed us to coordinate collection of as many items as possible (and to deliver them to the neighbour of the neighbour). Yet another neighbour found a USB-C plug on their grass. "Hmmm," she thought. "Likely something was stolen." She showed her husband who agreed. Something was stolen. Seconds later, one of them opened their email to see our news about the U-Haul. They sent a message. We then coordinated getting the plug from that neighbour to the neighbour of the neighbour. If you're confused, don't be. This was a bunch of amazing people looking out for each other. We don't yet know that the plug does belong to the U-Haul neighbour. But it was definitely neighbours stepping up for neighbours. Thank you to the original neighbour who reported to us (and also reported to police). Thank you to all neighbours who jumped up to help. You're all awesome! Comments are closed.
